I left VLC open for 5 minutes to make sure of that. When I select ‘Yes’, there is no image that pops up at all. The first time I tried this, I got the fifth (last) image on the attachment. So I tried to update, and got a screen that said 3.0.16 was available, and asked it I wanted to download it. I have 3.0.11 Vetinari (which is the same version I have on my Windows 10 laptop, which works fine), and you said the latest version is 3.0.17.4 Vetinari. They are the third and fourth image on the attachment. So I found the subdirectory manually, and saved my current settings. See the first and second images on the attached. You said to save my current settings: Windows + r, then paste %appdata%vic in the input area, and press OK. VLC would display the images, but NO sound. mp3 files I had saved on my computer, and played in the past. If I have a radio station that will not play directly, but access that same station via Sonos, the sound plays.įirst, I tried to play some of the old. If the website gives me the option to listen via MP3 or RealPlayer, the sound plays. I initially assumed it was NOT a hardware issue, because as I said in my initial post, if I can access the website via VLC Media player, the sound plays. And if it is, other than taking the tower into my local repair shop, can I fix that? So what I initially suspected, the Security Monthly Quality Rollup for Windows 7 for 圆4-based Systems (KB5015861), which I installed on, must not be the problem.ĭo you think this might be a hardware problem in my tower computer? If so, how might I confirm that it is hardware related? I have an ohm meter. If you open the website, and go to the lower right hand corner of the Home page (which is the page that automatically opens) and click on the ‘sun’ icon (to view the Summer slideshow) the slideshow with a musical trilogy playing in the background will open. They all allowed the sites to play sound. I checked the Sound settings on each of the browsers. I opened the Open Volume Mixer and checked the volume for each of my three browsers (Firefox, Chrome and Pale Moon). I tried running the General: Fixes in the Codec Tweak tool. BTW, are there any yellow triangles in device manager? Give all that a go while I have stuff to do. Have you done a SFC yet? If not run one, go to this site and bookmark it, it is a grouse site & respect ‘Brink’ – What sort of anti-virus set-up have you got and when was the last time you ran a scan? If it has been awhile, run one, I might have to give you some tools to run scans. I see text and all the words are a blur to me, but I still soldier on it takes me a longer time, but I get there slowly. It has a link to Sharky’s site too – – you have to do reading, you can’t get out of it. Here is the page on Majorgeeks – – they have a 4 minute video on there, watch it. You have to have no other codecs installed I think. Once Sharky is installed it will ask if you want to check for any problems on your computer, or it does this itself, I can’t remember. You can pick to have MPE-BE 圆4 installed (it is Windoze Media player 圆4, but I can’t remember the rest as my memory is shot to hell). I picked that software as it is easy to install, you pick what you want during start-up install, just becareful as there may be stuff not good to install, but you will see that easily enough. You get the software off them, and the software then does the installing. The site has nothing to do with the complexity of the software, they only are the middle men/women in this whole cinareo. When was the last time you were there? They have videos, so does uTube. I have searched the internet, and so far have not found anything that addresses this problem.Īny help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I also have two Windows 10 laptop computers, which have internal speakers. If I have a radio station that will not play directly, but access that same station via Sonos, the sound plays. If I can access the website via VLC Media player, the sound plays. Unfortunately, since I don’t try accessing audio via websites and radio stations very often, I have no idea when this problem started.īut there are exceptions. I have deleted and reinstalled Windows Media Player (Windows Media Center and Windows DVD maker are also installed). I have confirmed that my speakers are connected correctly to the tower. I am having a real problem with getting audio from websites and web radio stations that play music or spoken voices. Latest one is Security Monthly Quality Rollup for Windows 7 for 圆4-based Systems (KB5015861), which I installed on. I have the paid for Windows extended updates. I have Windows 7 Pro 64 bit SP1 tower, which was built by a local shop years ago. If this post is not in the correct forum, please let me know and I will move it.
